ACLI NEWS LETTER 26/10/2009

Dear members and associate members.

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know something about the past activities of our Association and what we plan for the next few months.

Abruzzo earth quake

For those who couldn't take part, let me say that the function we had at Maranto's to raise funds for the Italian earth quake was a great success, besides people enjoying themselves on the day, we are proud of saying that we raised £1,350.00 plus we received a donation of £ 1000.00 from Stefano Maranto. We were very active assisting Mr. Bertali and although the collections from the Restaurants were not very successful, I am duty bound to praise the staff of Sergio in Chester and Maranto's restaurants who raised a significant sum.
The biggest donor was the Hoover company, the London Chamber of commerce was very active raising £4,703 as was Mr. Bruno Cabrelli ( The Comites President) from Manchester with £ 4,186 also other restaurants and associations in the Manchester area, and I am confident that Mr. Bertali will ensure that the money will be utilised for worthy causes.

Recently we had a visit from our Italian missionary who celebrated for us a Mass in Italian, at the Liverpool Cathedral, Don Antonio will come to Liverpool again on Saturday the 7th of November and will celebrate a Mass at St. Teresa’s church in Norris Green at 2.00 p.m. On the day we will have a quick meeting to elect the committee. Also will be present Anna Lucci Coronato who is the company secretary of the Italian centro di lingua e cultura, for a brief talk to the families, on the possibility to re-introduce the Italian classes on Merseyside. Refreshments will be offered.

The members enjoyed the coach trip to York so much that some people have suggested we plan another trip soon, in fact right now we are planning a trip to Blackpool lights, which consists of a visit to Boundary Mills, a three course fish and chips meal and a drive through to see the Blackpool lights. This is planned to take place Sunday the 8th of November. Leaving Wallasey At 1.00 p.m. and calling at Childwall five ways at about 1.20 p.m.

Sunday 15th November at 2.00 p.m Italian meal at Maranto’s ESTEBAN,
With Franco and his Fisarmonica. Price: £ 22.50 p.p.
.
The Befana will take place the 10th of January, at the Police Club Liverpool.Regards. dinopellegrino@talktalk.net Tel. 0151 639 2219
